Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR): Azrieli Global Scholars Program

CIFAR aims to address the most important questions facing science and humanity. Their programs assemble the world’s top researchers to advance knowledge and change the world. From quantum computing and artificial intelligence to innovation theory, the social determinants of health, and the microbiome, they focus on high-risk, high-reward outcomes.

The Azrieli Global Scholars program provides unrestricted research support of $100,000 CAD to exceptional early-career researchers in the first five years of a full-time research position to collaborate with colleagues from diverse disciplines. Program components include participating in an interdisciplinary network of fellows, strengthening leadership and communication skills, and increasing impact within and outside of academia.

Applicants may be based anywhere in the world, must hold a PhD (or equivalent) and be within the first five years of starting a full-time position at an institution of higher education or research, with responsibilities that include both conducting an independent research program and supervising/teaching trainees toward the completion of a degree. Scholars’ research interests should complement the themes and goals of a recruiting CIFAR research program.

Scholars’ research interests must complement or contribute to the themes and goals of an eligible CIFAR research program. Programs accepting applications include:
