Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine: Quality improvement Projects

SIDM has issued a Request for Proposals for twelve-month diagnostic quality and safety improvement projects. Twenty grants of up to $50,000 will be awarded in support of QI projects focused on diagnostic quality and safety. Forty percent of the total awards will be directed to QI projects that target improvement in one of the “Big 3” categories, which include vascular events, infections, and cancers. Forty percent of the total awards will be directed to QI projects that target reduction in diagnostic errors associated with disparities. Twenty percent of total awards will be directed to the open category (i.e., not one of the priority areas).

Healthcare entities that provide direct patient care are eligible to apply and will typically come from the following list: office-based primary care, office-based specialty care, clinics (e.g., urgent, acute), other ambulatory centers (e.g., surgical/imaging), community hospitals, academic medical centers, safety net hospitals, critical access hospitals, VA & military centers, member of integrated delivery systems, Federally Qualified Health Centers, rehab facilities, skilled nursing facilities, and psychiatric hospitals.
