As the charitable and philanthropic arm of Motorola Solutions, the Motorola Solutions Foundation seeks to benefit the communities where it operates by making strategic grants, forging strong community partnerships, and fostering innovation.

To that end, the foundation welcomes applications for its 2021 grant program. Through the program, grants of up to $50,000 will be awarded in the following areas:

STEM Education — Including programs specifically focused on technology and engineering, including those that engage students in innovative hands-on technology and engineering activities (e.g., design, coding, and robotics); provide vocational skills, scholarships, certifications, and workforce placement opportunities in engineering, information technology, and data science; and equip teachers with the skills and training necessary to enhance instruction in technology and engineering.

First Responder Programming — Including programs that provide leadership development and training opportunities for underrepresented first-responders, including females and people of color; provide mental wellness and stress management trainings for first-responders and their families; provide wellness and scholarship support to families of fallen first-responders; prepare youth and young adults for careers in public safety through outreach, scholarship, and educational programs; offer safety preparedness and response training to schools, adults, students, and first-responders; and those that lead safety and disaster-preparedness trainings for the public.

Grants also will be awarded for blended first-responder programming and technology and engineering education programs. Priority locations include Salt Lake City.

Within each area of focus, the foundation supports underrepresented populations, including persons of color, females, and other underrepresented groups. Employee engagement is heavily weighed by the foundation team as part of the evaluation process, and programs that currently engage Motorola Solutions employees as volunteers or board members will be prioritized, as will organizations that detail future volunteer opportunities.

An inquiry form must be submitted by February 1, 2021. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application by April 15, 2021.
