Greenwall Foundation: Bridging Bioethics Research & Policymaking Grant Initiative
Deadline: August 22, 2022
Category: Biomedical, policy, public health decision making,
The mission of the Greenwall Foundation is to expand bioethics knowledge to improve clinical, biomedical, and public health decision making, policy, and practice.
To that end, the foundation has issued an RFP for a new grant initiative, Bridging Bioethics Research & Policymaking, to support bioethics’s innovative and practical integration into policy. This initiative will not fund bioethics research but, rather, support bioethics researchers, policy makers, and others to take the next step and bridge the divide between research results and policy making. Grants under this initiative will be capped at $50,000. Projects with smaller budgets and shorter timelines will receive priority.
Relevant policy making under this initiative can occur at the federal, state, or local levels. The foundation intentionally is not prescribing the mechanisms it will fund through this initiative and welcomes creative ideas and applications. For illustrative purposes only, such mechanisms might include making actionable bioethics research readily available to policy makers in digestible and accessible formats or scaling up an evidence-based policy solution. They are unlikely to include publishing in an academic journal. Applications from—or partnerships with—policy makers and others outside of academia are encouraged.
Consistent with its status as a 501(c)(3) private foundation, the foundation will not fund direct or grassroots lobbying (i.e., attempts to influence specific legislation) under this initiative. However, education, nonpartisan analyses/reports, and other similar efforts are appropriate.
